Feathers Craftswoman

PRUNE FAUX

France

Maker’s story
“Legacy is not leaving something for people. It’s leaving something IN peoples.”.

Prune is one of France’s remaining feathers craftswoman. Her passion for feathers brought her to a feather courses at the hat Museum. After that, she continued her apprenticeship at Maison Lemarié where she obtained the Feathers Craftswoman Label. That’s bringing in working on numerous commissions for CHANEL and Maison Lemarié, including restoration and creation of fans and a mission at workshop of the Master of Arts Nelly Saunier. In January 2015 she settles as a feather artisan in Provence. Prune offers us a diverse range of accessories and objects for the feather house

THE PROCESS

The richness of her creations inherits from her passion for the association of colours and the diversity of feathers. Admiringly and respectful of this ancestral know-how, she creates using these traditional techniques with a new look, maintaining and passing on her historic skills. She does not hesitate to dye, cut, sew and curl all kinds of feathers such as guinea fowl, goose, turkey, pheasant, ostrich, and rooster, also rarer as the egret or the bird of paradise. She enjoys mixing old feathers with her creations, adding a touch of “je ne sais quoi”.
